Service: Redesign a book cover
Our assignment was to choose one of our favorite books and redesign the cover. Brave New World is a classic and has been published with many different covers so this was a bit difficult. Time to get crafty! I knew immediately that I wanted to create something with two layers to illustrate the psychology of these people in this future world. Calm and pleasant on the outside but cold and dead on the inside. Using a light weight vellum paper for my top layer and an ash gray slice of 80lb. bristol for the inner portion created the perfect balance for my material juxtaposition. The colored circles are representative of the "soma" pills and of the calm euphoria which they create. It was difficult to line everything up during the printing process, but beauty is in the details and it was worth it to get it right!
