In San Antonio, TX there isn't the largest music scene, but there is a wonderfully vibrant thing happening around the 1011 venue. While its small and run down and mostly unknown; if your lucky enough to catch a show there you'll most likely see why its such a joyous thing that they haven't been shut down. Music venues come and go in any city and more so in San Antonio. It was my pleasure to create a fun little poster to celebrate the 1011's third birthday. It's always a challenge creating one poster for multiple events. The struggle always lies in balancing the information design with the aesthetic design. The concept here was to use a pattern of hierarchy with the typography to create a visually interesting piece that delivers the information quickly and easily. The illustrated birthday cakes may be a bit gratuitous on my part, but it was a birthday party after all, right?
